Taking on the iPhone

It’s been the goal of every mobile manufacturer since Apple launched it’s gateway device. Who would blame them? It looks as if the success of the iPhone has increased adoption of Macs around the country, and to an extent, the world.

Although the iPhone, and now the iPhone 3G, are the most fashionable and cool phones out, you really don’t need to have one. The iPhone still misses some key features like recording video and the ability to send and receive MMS messages.

I mean, there are alternatives such as the HTC Touch Diamond, Blackberry Bold, and now the Blackberry Storm.

The HTC Touch Diamond is on the Sprint Network for $250 (after you save $200 instantly, $100 on a mail in rebate, and with a 2 year contract). [from Engadget]

The Blackberry Bold should be available on the new AT&T this October.

The Blackberry Storm should be available around this October on Verizon Wireless.

As you could probably tell… T-Mobile is the only company that got left out of this super phone race…. err, well, not really.

According to Fortune, which sites the Wall Street Journal, the first “Google Phone,” powered by Android, will be available on T-Mobile for $199. It’ll be called the HTC Dream.

So have no fear. You don’t need to have an iPhone to be happy with your mobile device.

It’s coming.

The HTC Touch Diamond is coming to Sprint networks this month at $249.99 with rebates and a two year contract, CNET reports.

This “iPhone Killer” has looked amazing in the YouTube videos I’ve watched and specs I’ve seen. CNet seemed to like the phone overall, but the Wall Street Journal had a pretty sour review.

Will you get this over the iPhone 3G? Or even the Blackberry Bold? Maybe that new flip Blackberry that’s coming out?

Let the games begin

Well, the much rumored 3G iPhone seems to be coming sometime this summer and surely after the immense success of the first iPhone the 3G version will most likely follow suit. Also, the iPhone is getting it’s firmware upgraded to version 2.0 sometime in mid June, which will probably make Apple’s phone a little more corporate friendly.

But everyone knows that already.

There are now two brand new heavyweights though.

iPhone, say hello to the brand new BlackBerry Bold (aka BlackBerry 9000) as well as the HTC Touch Diamond. First, let’s take a look at the iPhone’s new competitors, along with a picture of the iPhone we all know and love.

The BlackBerry Bold features a full QWERTY keyboard along with the revamped and absolutely beautiful Blackberry OS and feature 3G for the first time on a BlackBerry device.

The HTC Touch Diamond is a full touch screen phone like Apple’s device running on Windows Mobile OS with a sleek and sexy presentation.

All three phone look great, and all three look to go to war by the end of the year.

The Bold will be out sometime this summer from AT&T with other versions coming to other carriers as time goes on, and the HTC Touch Diamond has been submitted to the FCC but doesn’t have a carrier in the US yet.
